Can we talk about the advice my friend gave on pacing anime arcs?

My buddy Nate told me to skip the filler arcs in Naruto because they're a waste of time. I watched about 20 episodes of filler in the middle of Shippuden before I took his advice and skipped straight to the canon stuff. Now I actually see the pacing was dragging me down and I finished the main story in like 3 weeks. Has anyone else regretted sticking through filler just because of peer pressure?

Nate's 20 episode figure is actually pretty close to my breaking point too. I sat through the entire Bount arc in Bleach because a friend swore it was worth it. That was 4 days I will never get back. Now I check a filler guide before every new series. If I had just listened to the skip advice from the start, I would have saved myself hours of watching people stand in the rain and talk about their feelings.

Jeez, 4 days you'll never get back? Come on, it's just a TV show. People act like watching a bad arc is some kind of life trauma. I sat through all of Dragon Ball GT back in the day and I'm still standing. You probably didn't miss that much by checking a guide either, half those filler episodes are mildly entertaining if you're just half-watching while scrolling your phone anyway.

The 94 episode filler run in Naruto Shippuden around episode 144 made me quit the show for a whole year.
