Dropped my whole anime collection down a stairwell at a con last weekend

I was hauling a box of Blu-rays up to my dealer room at Anime Expo in LA and the bottom gave out, sending like 30 discs clattering down two flights - had to spend $60 on replacement cases and spent an hour checking scratches, has anyone else lost stuff moving booths at a big con?

Ngl that hurts to even think about. Honestly I'd be so paranoid about scratches on the discs after that, especially on the limited editions with those special cases that cost an arm and a leg to replace. Tbh I always double wrap my box in plastic wrap and tape the bottom now after seeing someone's figure display shatter on the escalator at AX last year. That $60 hit stings too, could've been a whole new series instead of just cases.

Saw a video where a collector's whole shelf came down because the plastic wrap shifted and pulled everything with it. @nathankim that double wrap trick is smart but I'd be scared to breathe near those cases after that.

I dropped my entire limited edition Madoka box set on concrete last year and I swear I heard my wallet cry from across the room. @nathankim you get it though, the paranoia is real because my clumsy self has already cracked two standard blu-ray cases just trying to open them normally. I actually started keeping my expensive sets in those cheap paper sleeves because I realized I'm more dangerous to my own collection than any shipping carrier could ever be.
