I called that slow burn anime boring for 6 episodes and now I owe my roommate an apology
My roommate kept pushing this show on me in April and I made it to episode 6 of 24 before I told him it was just two sad people staring at walls. Then he sat me down for the festival arc and I watched 9 episodes in one night, phone face down on the couch the entire time. So what is the actual cutoff point where a slow start stops being a flaw and starts being the point, or do we just grade stuff differently once it finally hits?
Episode 6 is where I bailed on the exact same show and my roommate still brings it up at dinner, so you are a better person than me. My guess is the cutoff is different for everyone, and it mostly comes down to whether the quiet stuff is building something or just filling time. Some shows earn the slow start and others just waste yours, and you don't know which one you're watching until it's over.
