I thought filler episodes were always skippable until my buddy Dave argued one through at a con in Baltimore
I used to skip any episode that didn't move the main plot forward, but Dave sat me down at Katsucon in Baltimore and walked me through how one beach episode in a slice of life show did more for the cast than three plot heavy ones. He pointed at a single quiet scene, nine minutes in, where two characters just share a drink and say almost nothing. We argued about it for an hour and now I actually watch them instead of hitting next, so how do you all decide which episodes are worth your time?
Had a buddy in college who swore by this rule that any episode with a different director was worth watching twice. He would pull up the credits and pause the show just to check, which drove our whole dorm nuts. Fast forward two years and he's the one guy in our group who caught every tiny detail in the final season, all because he refused to skip anything. Makes you wonder if the filler label was just something fans made up to feel better about skipping. Half the stuff people call filler is really just the show letting the characters breathe.
