I used to think the only good anime came out before 2010, but a friend made me watch 'Odd Taxi' last month and it completely flipped that idea.

The tight writing and grounded mystery in that show proved modern anime can have the substance I thought was gone, so what's a recent series that changed your mind about something?

Cyberpunk Edgerunners made me give action anime another shot.

Yeah I was the same way with action anime feeling kinda samey. But Edgerunners had that emotional gut punch that actually stuck with me, like the ending just wrecked me for a couple days. It made me realize the genre could be more than just cool fights.

That show made me finally check out Bocchi the Rock last week, and it totally redefined what a music anime could be for me.
