I watched the 'Monogatari' series in release order first, then tried chronological. The difference in how I got the story was huge.

Yeah, I read a blog post that broke down the Kizu movies being third in release order. Watching it later changes how you see Araragi and Hanekawa's whole dynamic from the start. You miss that initial mystery about what happened over spring break.

Totally agree, it ruins the whole slow reveal the show builds so well. I watched in broadcast order first and was genuinely confused about his past for ages. That mystery is half the fun early on.

But what about people who start with Kizu first now that it's easy to stream? Do you think they get a totally different story, one that's more about how the past haunts him instead of a mystery to solve? I feel like the order really does make it a different show.
