Physical manga vs digital scans, which actually counts as reading for you?

I used to only read physical manga, the feel of the paper and the spines lined up on my shelf mattered to me. Around 2 years ago I switched to digital scans on my tablet because I moved to a smaller apartment in Chicago and couldn't take 300 volumes with me. Now I binge series digitally but I catch myself not remembering the details as clearly, maybe it's just me though. Is the medium actually affecting how we absorb the story, or are we just nostalgic about holding the book? Anyone else feel like they have to buy the physical copy of a series they already read online to really 'finish' it?

Honestly, "have to buy the physical copy to really finish it" hit me way too hard. I did that exact thing with Berserk, read all 40+ volumes on my phone, then bought the big deluxe editions just to feel like I actually earned the ending. Ngl, I think the tablet makes me skim more too, like I flip panels faster than I would with a page, so the details just blur together.
