Ran into a wild fact about Dragon Ball Z episode count while checking Wikipedia last night

I was just looking up something random on Dragon Ball Z, and I found out that the original run actually had 291 episodes. That floored me because I always thought it was closer to 200 something. I spent like 20 minutes double checking different sources and yeah, it's 291. Has anyone else been surprised by a show's actual total episode count before?

Is it really fair to blame the filler arcs though? I mean, 291 episodes is a lot, but the Saiyan and Namek sagas moved pretty fast in the manga. The real padding came from all those Buu saga episodes where everyone's just standing around powering up for like 3 minutes of screen time.

@sammartinez has a point about the filler, but 291 episodes is still a ton of content either way. Powering up for three minutes felt like an eternity back then, especially during the Buu saga. Those Namek episodes where Goku was just running down the snake path dragged on forever too. It's crazy how much time they stretched out of that original story.
