Rewatched a 90s mecha show, the dub hit different

Picked up an old DVD box set of a 90s mecha series at a flea market for $15. Watched it subbed first, thought it was fine. Then tried the English dub out of curiosity. The voice acting was way more over the top than I remembered, almost like a comedy. Turns out watching it dubbed changes the whole tone of the show. Anyone else have a series that feels totally different in the dub?

Wait, is that the one where the pilot screams every line? I swear my old Gundam dub turned drama into pure cheese.
