A guy at the Syracuse shop showed me a quarter panel dent pull trick in 2019 that half this sub would call wrong
I was at a shop in Syracuse picking up a fender when an old timer named Ray watched me fight a dent for 40 minutes with a stud welder. He grabbed a $12 heat gun off the bench, warmed the panel just a bit, and worked it out from the edges with a spoon in about 5 minutes. So now I'm split on this: some guys say heat is how you warp a panel and lose the factory temper, others say cold working every dent is what actually causes the cracks down the road. I've done it his way on maybe 15 jobs since and haven't warped one yet, but I want to hear from people who have been at this way longer. Which camp are you in, heat or no heat?
