A painter in my shop said he never blocks primer dry, and now I'm questioning my whole 8 year routine
I was wet sanding a bumper at my shop in Tucson last Tuesday when the guy at the next bay mentioned he blocks primer while it's still a little green, says it cuts faster and he's been doing it 20 years. I've always waited a full day before touching it with 320, so I tried his way on a scrap fender and honestly the paper loaded up way less than I expected. Now I keep going back and forth on whether that's just luck on one panel or if I've been adding hours to every job for nothing. Has anyone else tried blocking before primer is fully cured, and did it bite you later with shrinkage or sand scratches?
