An old guy at the salvage yard showed me a trick for pulling dents with a slide hammer I'd never seen before.
He was pulling a fender off a 90s Civic and said 'kid, you're fighting it, let the tool do the work.' He hooked it differently, used way less force, and the panel popped right out. Anyone know other old-school tricks like that for stubborn body work?

My grandpa had that same "let the tool work" philosophy fixing everything on his farm.

What kind of tools did he refuse to replace? My neighbor still uses the same splitting maul his dad bought in the 70s, even though the handle is held on with baling wire.

That maul sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

I had a neighbor back in 2019 who refused to replace a circular saw blade that was basically just a metal nub with some sparks coming off it. He said the blade had "good years left" because he only used it to cut wet pressure treated lumber. I watched him fight that thing for an hour trying to cut a single 2x4 and the whole time I was just waiting for the ER trip. People forget that tools wear down for a reason and that reason is usually your fingers.
