@wright.leo nailed it. I did something similar on a Chevy and it cracked the paint.

That trick with heat and a wedge is a lifesaver when you're careful with it. I had a spot on an old Ford pickup where the paint started lifting because I got the panel too hot too fast. Learned the hard way that you have to take your time and let the heat soak in gradually. Now I keep a cheap infrared thermometer handy and don't let it go above 120 or so. Works like a charm as long as you're patient.

That's the kind of fix most people would just live with or pay a body shop for. It's crazy how a little heat and a wedge can solve something you'd think needs real tools.
