Got a 2008 Civic quarter panel with a deep dent right on the body line

Instead of hammering from the back, I used a slide hammer with a small hook to pull it out from the front, then finished with a shrinking disc. It saved me a ton of time and kept the metal from stretching. What's your go-to method for a sharp crease like that?

That's smart, pulling it out first before you even touch the hammer.

My dad taught me that trick years ago. He always said to check the nail set before swinging. Saved me from a lot of bent nails.

Yeah checking the nail set first is such a good habit. It's like when you're driving and you check your mirrors before you even start the car, you just build it into the routine. I learned the hard way trying to drive a finish nail without setting the depth right, it just crumpled and messed up the wood. Now I always give that little collar a twist to make sure it's seated.

Seems like a lot of fuss over a bent nail.
