I rough-fitted by feel for 12 years, bought a $28 gauge 6 months ago, now I'm split on it
Used to gap every door and fender by eye and fingertip, and honestly it worked fine on the 200 or so jobs I did at the shop off Highway 9 in Everett. Picked up a cheap gap gauge off the tool truck 6 months ago and now I can't unsee how uneven some of my old work was. Half of me says the gauge makes me slower and fussier, the other half says the comebacks dropped to almost nothing. Anybody here still doing it by feel, or did you all switch over?
