Just noticed how much a good baking soda blast changes aluminum trim

Did an 87 F-150 last week in Phoenix where the trim was all pitted and gray, hit it with medium pressure baking soda and it came out looking almost like new. Has anyone else noticed blasting beats polishing every time for old trim?

Polished and looked almost like new" - yeah, until you actually touch it three months later and it's already starting to tarnish again, right? (asks the guy who learned this the hard way on his own '85 Bronco). I swear, soda blasting is like magic for that old anodized stuff, it gets into the little pits without eating the metal. Medium pressure is key though, too aggressive and you're just making more work for yourself with primer.

True that. It's like the clock starts ticking the second you finish.

Notice this same thing happening everywhere now, from phone cases to kitchen faucets. Stuff just isn't built to hold up anymore, they design it to look good for a month then fall apart. Feels like everything these days is made for the unboxing video, not for actually using it five years down the road.
