Switched my view on mixing paint brands after a job went wrong

I used to think you could just mix whatever brand of clear with whatever hardener if the numbers looked close. Then I had a 2005 F-150 hood peel 3 months later, alligator city. Has anyone else had mixed-brand combos actually hold up long term?

And that's why I treat clear coat like my ex, never mix brands and hope it works out.

Buddy of mine tried mixing two different clear brands once, said it was like watching wet concrete dry in slow motion before it finally cracked. @flores.emma's got the right idea, learned that lesson the hard way through his truck's roof.
