The 3M dust extractor hose adapter that everyone seems to get backwards
I keep seeing guys at our shop in Phoenix hooking the adapter with the arrow pointing away from the sander instead of toward it. That little plastic piece costs $12 to replace when the tabs snap off from forcing it the wrong way. Anyone else run into this or am I the only one who actually reads the packaging?

Reading the arrow takes two seconds. People just jam stuff together then wonder why it breaks. RTFM is still a thing for a reason.

Oh man @shane_bell, you couldn't be more right. I've seen guys on my crew try to skip a step in the manual and then call me over fuming because their deck stain is a mess. Following the directions is the easiest way to save yourself a headache, I don't care how "simple" the project looks. I just follow the steps in order every time and it never lets me down. Most people want to shortcut their way to results and end up paying double for materials instead.

You ever watch a guy spend 45 minutes fighting a pocket door because he wouldn't read the simple diagram on the back of the box? I had a neighbor try to put together a grill last summer, skipped the part about aligning the gas line, and nearly set his patio on fire. It's like people think reading the manual is admitting defeat or something. The truth is, taking those five minutes to look at the instructions saves you hours of frustration and a trip to the hardware store. I always tell the new guys on site, "The paper knows what it's talking about.
