Thought those new ceramic clear coats were just hype

Had a customer bring in a 2022 Silverado with a nasty scratch down the side. He insisted on a ceramic blend. Figured it was just fancy paint. Did the repair, sprayed it on. Two days later, the shine was unreal. It felt like glass. Now I push it for every high-end job. Anyone else switch over after trying it once?

Mirror pool" depth, does it hide orange peel better too?

Heard about a buddy who sprayed a ceramic clear over some minor orange peel on a trunk lid. It didn't fix the texture, but man, the way that deep gloss reflected light made it way less obvious to the eye. You could still feel it if you ran your hand over it, but just looking at it, the defect just sort of sank into that mirror look.

Yeah, had the same doubt until a guy with a black F-150 wanted a full hood respray. Used a ceramic clear on it, and the depth was crazy. It didn't just look wet, it looked like a mirror pool. Water just slides right off now. Changed my whole shelf in the booth after that.
