Guy at the Irving counter told me to stop torqueing lug nuts by feel, and my comeback was dumb
I was picking up a water pump in Irving and this older tech behind the counter overheard me say I could feel 100 ft-lbs with my arm after 15 years on the job. He just laughed and pointed at the torque wrench sitting on his shelf for $60. I know he's right, but how many of you guys really grab the wrench for every single wheel, or is it one of those things we all pretend we do online?
Man come on, every single wheel? That's not happening in the real world. I torque mine when I do brakes or rotate tires at home, but if I'm just pulling a wheel to check something quick you better believe it's going back on by feel. Half the shops I've been in don't even own a wrench that goes past 100 and nobody's wheels are falling off. Dude was right about the 60 bucks but lets not act like we're all out here measuring every lug every time.
