Had to pick between a rusty bolt extractor and a torch on a seized caliper bolt, guess which one won
Last Thursday I'm doing a brake job on a 2012 Escape and the lower caliper bolt is welded on by rust. I stare at my $18 extractor set, then at my $40 propane torch, and I went with the torch because I was hungry and wanted lunch after. 30 seconds of heat, bolt came out like butter, and I burned my forearm hair off in the process. Anybody else keep choosing fire over finesse and paying the price?
