Just realized my dad was right about the 10mm socket thief being real
I was at a shop in Tucson last month and heard a kid say his 10mm socket "grew legs and walked off" for the third time that week. The old guy next to me laughed and pulled out a little tin box from his toolbox, said he keeps 6 spares in there because he learned the hard way over 30 years. I always thought the missing 10mm thing was just a joke we all pass around, but watching this kid tear his bay apart for 20 minutes made me think about how much time we lose to the smallest tool in the box. Any of you ever figure out where they actually go, or is it just a law of the universe at this point?
Did you ever look down and realize you were standing on it the whole time? I bought a bright yellow one thinking that would fix the problem, then lost it in a pile of sawdust two days later, never saw it again. My record is losing three in one weekend, and one of them I found six months later inside a boot I don't even wear anymore. At this point I just buy them in packs of five and treat it like paying rent.
