Oil pan gasket swap after 8 years showed me exactly how bad sludge gets
I pulled the oil pan off a 2005 Silverado last weekend that had 180k miles and never had the gasket changed. The inside of that pan looked like someone painted it with tar. After scraping it clean and putting in a new Fel-Pro gasket, the oil pressure gauge reads 8 psi higher at idle now. Did any of you see a similar jump in pressure after a deep clean like that?

Man I wish my oil pressure gauge did anything useful instead of just making me feel bad about my life choices.

Know what you mean @baker.christopher, that little needle just stares at me like it's judging my whole life. My car's oil pressure gauge reminds me of my dentist telling me I need to floss more, just sitting there silently disappointing me. But honestly, I'd rather have it than one of those dummy lights that just go on when everything's already ruined. That gauge at least lets me know when I'm about to have a $2,000 problem instead of $5,000 one. Plus it gives me something to stare at while I'm stopped in traffic wondering why I bought a car with 180,000 miles on it.

Stare at it long enough and you'll start seeing your ex's face in it too @baker.christopher.
