That Friday I thought I blew up a transmission but it was just a sensor
Last month I had one of those days where everything lines up wrong. A 2014 F-150 came in for a hard shift, I quoted a valve body rebuild at $1,150, and the customer approved it without blinking. I pulled the pan, found clean fluid, and then the transmission started slamming gears in the parking lot on the test drive. Turned out the output speed sensor was throwing a bad signal, $60 part fixed it, and I had to call the customer back to cancel the big job. He was cool about it, actually laughed, but I spent four hours chasing a ghost before I thought to watch live data on a scanner. Has anyone else had a call like that where the obvious fix was totally wrong and the cheap part saved you?
