TIL a 10mm socket on a wobble extension saved me a whole transmission pull on a 2013 Ford Escape
Last Thursday a 2013 Escape came in with a leaking bell housing seal and I had the subframe bolts halfway out before I noticed the top two bell housing bolts were reachable from the wheel well. I used a 10mm swivel socket on a 6 inch wobble extension through the driver side fender liner and got both of them in about 15 minutes instead of dropping the whole cradle. Ended up cutting a 4 hour job down to about 90 minutes and the customer picked it up the same day. Has anyone else found a shortcut like that on the Escape or do you just pull the subframe every time?
