Finally got the wiring diagram right on a 737 after 3 tries

Been working on a 737-800 at the hangar in Memphis for the last month. Last week I kept chasing a bad ground on the VOR receiver. Turned out it was a pinched wire in the bundle near the avionics bay door. Fixed it on the third try Tuesday morning and the troubleshooting went smooth after that. Anyone else have those jobs where the simplest issue hides behind a bad install?

Man, I gotta push back on this a little. That VOR receiver on the 737-800 is actually pretty solid once you get past the surface stuff. I mean, three tries to get the wiring diagram right feels like it might be overcomplicating it. Maybe it's just me but I've seen that same pinched wire problem a dozen times and it always ends up being user error when the diagram gets redone. The factory installs on those avionics bay door bundles are usually fine, idk, if you pull the wire bundle clean and follow the manual step by step it shouldn't take more than one shot. Bad grounds on VOR receivers are almost always the ground stud itself not the wire, so chasing the bundle seems like going down the wrong path first.

Three tries to get the wiring diagram right" - strong disagree there, I've seen factory bundles that look clean but are actually pinched inside the loom where you can't see it, and chasing that ground stud first wastes time when the wire's already damaged inside.

Whoa, @abby_morgan18 might be onto something about the hidden pinch points though.
