Heard a new kid call a cannon plug "that round connector thing" and it hit me how much the slang has faded
Was working a harness swap on a King Air out at a hangar in Wichita last week and overheard one of the newer guys ask for "that round connector thing that twists." Took me a second to realize he meant a cannon plug, and then it kind of sank in that I have not heard that word out of a young tech in years. When I came up in the 90s everybody talked in old terms: cannon plugs, pigtails, squawk sheets, and you learned them from whoever was senior that day. Now the school guys come in knowing part numbers and CAN bus stuff cold but the old shop words do not mean much to them. Not a knock on them at all, honestly they are sharper on the software side than I ever was. It just feels like two trades sharing one break room some days. Any of you old hands notice the same thing, or is it just my shop?
