My old lead in Tulsa told me to stop cleaning every cannon plug with contact cleaner, and one $40 connector finally proved him right
I used to soak every plug I touched on the flight line. Then Don, our lead at the Tulsa hangar, pointed at a crumbled 38999 insert and asked me how many I'd doused myself. Pulled three more that week with swollen seals. Now I dry brush and only hit the pins when the manual actually calls for it. How do you all handle the gritty ones without wrecking the insert?

So did Don charge you for that connector too or was the lesson free? I've watched guys turn a $40 plug into a $400 repair in about ten seconds flat. Dry brush and a little low pressure air has saved me more inserts than any can ever did.
