Shoutout to the Delta gate agent who let me board with a half-fixed cabin light
I was at Hartsfield in Atlanta doing a quick deferred item sign-off on a CRJ when my multimeter started reading 26.5 volts on a bus that should've been dead. I told the captain I couldn't sign it, and he told me it was fine, so I pulled the breaker and drew a little X on my paperwork instead. The gate agent saw me hesitating, walked over, and asked if I was good to fly, and I said honestly no. We ended up swapping the whole airplane and I caught a later deadhead, but it started a real argument between me and two other techs about when you push back and when you just write it up. Do you defer and let the next guy sort it, or do you kill the flight right there?
