Swapped old D-sub pins for solder cup, 3 weeks later no regrets

I had a faulty attitude indicator that kept getting signal drops, and I had to choose between re-crimping the D-sub pins or going with a solder cup connector. I picked solder cup because the old pins had green crust that even contact cleaner wouldn't fully fix. The job took me close to 7 hours over two nights in our maintenance trailer, mostly because I kept second guessing my solder temps and had to redo two joints that looked cold. Once I dialed in the iron to around 700 degrees, the solder flowed smooth and I got a solid pull test on every wire. It's been two weeks and no flicker on the display, so I'm happy with the call. One thing I noticed, solder cup connectors take up more room than the old ones, so my backshell didn't fit right and I had to shave a bit of strain relief. Has anyone else dealt with clearance issues after switching connector types?
