That $220 wire tracer was a total waste on this old Hawker
Picked up one of those fancy digital wire tracers from the tool truck last month to chase a short in a 1980s Hawker 800. Spent a whole afternoon in the hangar in Tulsa fighting with it, the thing kept picking up noise from every other bundle in the panel. Finally borrowed my buddy's old analog toner and found the break in ten minutes flat. The digital unit just couldnt handle the corroded connectors and the shielding in that ancient bird. I could have spent that $220 on beer and been more productive honestly. Anyone else had bad luck with new test gear on legacy airframes or is it just me?
