Tried a Fox vs Garmin transponder install side by side last month

Had to swap out two G1000 installs on Cessna 172s last month. One got a Fox 780, the other a Garmin GTX 345R. The Fox took me maybe 45 minutes less on wiring alone since it had simpler pinouts. But the Garmin's altitude encoder data was way cleaner on the first power-up - no tweaking needed. Is the extra wiring time worth the reliability on the Garmin for most of you guys?

Used to swear by Garmin but that Fox swap changed my mind completely.

That 945 I had for three years never missed a beat though, even in heavy rain and thick tree cover. Always been solid for me, and @rodriguez.mia, I've heard the same from a couple buddies who tested both side by side too. Honestly, I think the Garmin ecosystem is just too polished to give up on for a single change.

Dan, what you said about the Fox really got me thinking too.
