My sourdough starter exploded out of the jar at 2 AM, any tips for bigger containers?
I left my rye starter on the counter in a 2 quart jar and it pushed the lid off and got dough all over my kitchen in Portland last night. Has anyone else had a starter ferment that violently, or do I need to switch to a wider bowl and feed less?

My buddy in Seattle had the same thing happen with a rye starter, it blew the lid clean across his kitchen and stuck to the fridge. He switched to a big plastic container with a loose lid and feeds way less, no explosions since.
