Warning: Digital scales add unnecessary hassle to weekend baking
Everyone online says you must weigh ingredients for perfect results, but I find it slows me down. My grandmother's cookie recipes use cups and always come out just right. The extra step of taring the scale and converting measurements kills the fun for me. Good baking should be about joy, not precision tools.
Does anyone else think it depends what you're making though? Like for cookies or bread, yeah scales are pretty important because the science matters. But for something like a stew or a casserole where you can tweak as you go, cups and spoons work just fine. I've actually had scales mess me up before when I forgot to tare a heavy bowl. Idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like grandma's cups have a kind of built-in intuition that numbers can't always capture.
