I thought magnesium before bed was pure internet nonsense, 6 weeks in and my calf cramps are basically gone
My buddy kept pushing me to try 400mg of magnesium glycinate at night after I kept waking up with brutal calf cramps around 3am, and I figured it was just another supplement scam from a guy who watches too much YouTube. Six weeks later the cramps have dropped from almost nightly to maybe once a week, and my sleep tracker shows I am getting about 40 more minutes of deep sleep on average. Has anyone else had a supplement actually work when they expected nothing, or is this just a placebo thing I am fooling myself with?
The "just another supplement scam from a guy who watches too much YouTube" part made me laugh because that's how I feel about half the stuff my friends push on me. But here's the pattern I keep running into: the stuff that actually works is usually boring and cheap, and we skip it because it can't possibly be that simple. Electrolytes, sleep, walking, magnesium. Meanwhile we'll drop 80 bucks on some fancy powder with a cool label. Same thing happened to me with plain old vitamin D in the winter, felt like a different person by February.
