Just realized my $100 'brain wave' headset was a dud after 6 months
Bought a neurofeedback headband last summer at a shop in Austin, thinking it'd sharpen my focus, but last month I compared my logs to a paper calendar and saw zero change. Anyone else ditch these gadgets and go back to plain caffeine or cold showers?

Used to think those things were just overpriced junk but your post actually changed my mind a little. I had a buddy who swore by his Muse headband for meditation but when I tried it the app kept glitching and the battery died in like 2 hours. Definitely sticking with my cold brew coffee and a timer on my phone for now.

Gotta wonder if part of the problem is that these gadgets are trying to solve a problem they created. Like, meditation is supposed to be about unplugging, right? But now you're staring at an app, worrying about battery life and Bluetooth connections. I get why people want biofeedback data, but maybe we're overcomplicating something that used to just be sitting still. My dad meditates with a damn kitchen timer and he's been doing it for 30 years. Never once complained about glitches.

Definitely sticking with my cold brew coffee and a timer on my phone" - honestly that's the most relatable thing I've read all week. Those gadgets are such a pain with the glitching and the battery draining. I tried a friend's Muse once and spent more time troubleshooting the app than actually meditating. It just adds another layer of frustration to something that's supposed to calm you down. You're way better off with your coffee and timer, keep it simple.
