Pro tip: That red light panel my buddy swore by gave me headaches for 2 weeks straight

My brother in law Mike kept pushing this $400 red light panel he got off a Kickstarter. Said it fixed his joint pain and helped him sleep. I borrowed it for 2 weeks and got pounding headaches every night after using it about 30 minutes before bed. Turns out the thing was pumping out near infrared at a way higher intensity than safe for close range. Anyone else run into gear that sounded legit but backfired on your body?

Honestly I think you're blaming the gear when it might just be how your body reacted to something new. Near infrared is legit studied for recovery and plenty of people use it without issues. Maybe your buddy's panel was defective or you were sitting too close, but that doesn't mean the whole concept is trash. I've used a cheaper mask for months and never got headaches, just better sleep and less knee pain. Sounds like you need to check your own tolerance levels instead of calling out the device. Tbh if Mike's joint pain improved then the tech works for some people, just not everyone.

Gotta love spending money on something that makes you feel worse, right? Maybe Mike's joint pain just got scared straight from those killer headaches you were having.
