The $4 foam roller I traded for my massage gun
My massage gun finally died after 11 months of heavy use, and I grabbed a cheap foam roller as a stopgap. Turns out the slow, sustained pressure hits my tight hip flexors way better than the percussive stuff ever did. Anyone else switch from a gun to a roller and notice a real difference in recovery time?

Traded my gun for a $10 lacrosse ball a few months back and honestly my hips feel looser. Slow pressure lets me actually breathe into the tight spots instead of just numbing them. Recovery still takes a couple days but the soreness feels way more manageable now.

Another angle nobody brings up is how a lacrosse ball forces you to actually map out your own body. With a gun you just blast the whole area, but with the ball you gotta find the exact knot and figure out the right angle to lean into it. @angela_morgan that hip loosening is probably from finally hitting the deep rotators instead of just the superficial muscle. It's like the difference between someone yelling at you to relax versus someone quietly showing you where the tension lives. Plus you can take the ball anywhere, even on a plane, which is way more than a gun can say.
