Overheard a guy at the scrapyard say he's been using rebar for tongs and his left hand is still fine

He's been doing it for 5 years with no issues but I saw a set of tongs made from rebar crack at the weld after 3 heats at a demo in Austin and that's a lot of faith to put in mystery steel if you ask me.

Bro left hand's fine cause he's not using his right hand anymore after that weld let go mid swing.

Man, you're acting like his arm fell off. A bad weld can mess up your day but it's not gonna take the whole hand unless he was holding the piece in place with his teeth. Probably just a good scar and a story to tell at the shop.
