Shoutout to the smith who pointed out my hammer angle was off by 10 degrees

I was at a demo last month at this little shop in Ohio. This older guy watches me work on a simple scroll for maybe 5 minutes. Then he says "your hammer is hitting the anvil face flat but your wrist is turning on the upswing, you're losing all that energy." I had been forging for about 2 years and never noticed. He showed me how holding the handle looser keeps the face square. Now my strikes actually go where I aim. Anyone else had some tiny tweak from a stranger that changed their whole workflow?

Huh, that's a solid catch. How many hours did you have logged before that guy called it out, because sometimes it takes a random set of eyes to spot what you've been doing wrong for months?

About 200 hours across three characters before someone pointed out I was doing a key combo wrong. I had been mashing buttons in the exact same order every time and missing a huge damage window. One random guy in a dungeon goes "hey you're cancelling the animation early, wait a beat before the next skill". Fixed it on the spot and my dps jumped like 15%. Funny how you can repeat the same mistake for months and never see it yourself.
