Stopped quenching my chisels in oil last month and switched to a bucket of warm water, and my edge holding got better

Switching to warm water made a big difference for me too, the edge just holds up way longer between sharpens. I do a quick dunk and pull it out fast though, since leaving it in too long can mess with the temper.
