That cheap harbor freight anvil I was skeptical about has held up for 8 months now
I bought their 55 pound cast iron anvil on a whim back in March, figuring it would ding up or crack after a few projects. To my surprise, it's taken everything from railroad spike knives to a leaf gate hinge without any real damage. Has anyone else had good luck with the budget anvils, or did I just get lucky?

Did yours start getting a dead spot on the face after a few months? My 55 pounder has a weird ring near the horn that went flat like three months in.

Buddy of mine beat on one for two years before upgrading.

Two years of beating on something tells me it held up decently... what finally made them pull the trigger on upgrading though? Was it a performance thing or just wanting something newer and shinier? Always curious what the breaking point is for people who clearly got their money's worth out of the old one.
