My grandma's hand mixer finally gave up after 27 years, so I went out and bought a fancy new one with all these speeds and a whisk attachment. Cost me $89 at the Target in Tulsa. Three weeks in, the motor started smoking on a batch of cookie dough, nothing heavy either. I dug her old one out of the trash, cleaned it up, and it still runs like a champ. Guess they don't make gears like they used to, or maybe I just got a lemon. Anyone else have an old appliance that outlived its replacement by a mile? Is it worth trying to fix the new one or just rage-return it?
