A guy at the hardware store in Tulsa told me my breaker bar snapped because I was using it wrong, and I still think about it
I was in Tulsa last month returning a breaker bar that snapped clean in half on a stubborn lug nut. The guy behind the counter looked at the break point, then at me, and said "you were pulling up, weren't you?" I just stood there because yeah, I was. He told me I was supposed to push down so the bar takes the load across its length instead of snapping at the joint. I had owned that thing for 3 weeks and broke it on the fourth tire of a rotation. He swapped it for free and I felt like a total idiot. Has anyone else been breaking tools just because nobody ever showed them the right way to hold the thing?

Pulling up" is the classic mistake and I've done it myself more than once. Get yourself a long pipe to slip over the handle for extra leverage and always push down with your body weight, it'll save your tools and your knuckles.
