Bought a $79 "lifetime" garage shelving kit at a big box store in Toledo, one bracket snapped with 40 lbs on it
Put it up last Saturday in my garage in Toledo. Loaded it with paint cans and a couple of totes. Maybe 40 lbs total per shelf, nothing crazy. Two weeks later I heard a pop and the whole left side dropped. The bracket that holds the shelf to the upright just snapped in half. Cheap pot metal, not real steel. The box said 200 lbs per shelf. I called the store and they said bring it back. Bring back a collapsed shelf full of spilled paint, sure. So now I'm out $79 plus the gas to haul it back and the two hours it took to mount it to the studs. Has anyone found a shelving setup under $150 that actually holds weight without folding?

Snapped bracket is the real issue, not really the weight, pot metal gives out no matter what.
