The Tuesday my $600 espresso machine quit mid-morning rush
Last Tuesday I had four people over for a small brunch thing, and right as I went to pull the second shot, my machine just stopped. No sputter, no warning light, just silence. It was only 14 months old, and I had babied it with descaling every month like the manual said. The repair shop quoted me $350 for a new pump and labor, which is more than half what I paid. I ended up buying a simple stovetop moka pot for $25, and honestly it makes better coffee anyway. But now I'm wondering if I should have pushed back harder on the manufacturer warranty since it was barely over a year. Has anyone else had a big appliance die right after the warranty window and actually gotten them to cover it?
