Bought a $50 'viral' kitchen gadget and it broke on the third use

Saw this TikTok about some herb chopper that was supposed to be a game changer. Spent 50 bucks on it and the plastic gear stripped after three onions. Anyone else fall for a useless gadget that looked good in a 30 second clip?

Viral stuff is just fancy marketing for junk half the time lol.

Oh man, I gotta push back on that a little lol. I mean sure, there's definitely a lot of viral junk out there, but not everything that blows up is automatically trash. I've bought a couple of those trendy kitchen gadgets and honestly one of them is still going strong a year later. The key is just being smart about it and looking past the flashy video. If you dig into the reviews and see actual people saying it broke after a week, then yeah that's a red flag. But sometimes a product goes viral because it genuinely solves a problem better than the boring old version. It's not all scams and hype, you just gotta do a tiny bit of homework before you buy.

Honestly, I kinda disagree a little bit here. Some viral stuff is overhyped trash, sure, but I've found a few gems that actually work great for the price. The problem is people buy the cheapest version of whatever gadget instead of looking for one with solid reviews and decent materials. $50 for a plastic herb chopper was always gonna be a gamble. You gotta check if the thing is built to last before you click buy, not just trust the happy music in the video.
