Hot take: the 'skip intro' trend is killing short video storytelling, but maybe that's the point?

So I was scrolling at 1am and saw this 45 second clip where a creator basically admitted they frontload all their best jokes in the first 3 seconds because everyone swipes away otherwise. And then another commenter argued that's just natural selection for attention, like how my nephew skips to the middle of every song before deciding if he likes it. On one hand, I get it, nobody owes a video their time, and the algorithm rewards the hook. But on the other hand, I've watched 20 edits of the same 'watch me react to my own cringe' format and honestly can't tell you what any of them were about, the payoff is just gone. I saw a 90 second tutorial last week where the actual tip was buried at second 70, and 90% of the comments were 'finally found it' which kinda proves the point. Is the instant gratification worth losing the slow burn, or are we just training ourselves to never sit with anything for more than a glance? What's the longest you've actually stuck with a video before bailing, and why?
