I watched 200 of those fake recipe videos at my sister's house last week

My sister in Boise had her phone playing nonstop while I visited, and I counted over 200 of those satisfying cooking videos with the weird squishy sounds and impossible ingredients like glue sticks covered in fake cheese. Everyone online seems to hate them, but I actually think they're brilliant because the absurdity is the whole point, it's performance art for people who know better. The girl filming never eats anything she makes, and that's what makes it work as a joke about food content itself. Am I the only one who watches these on purpose just to see how far they push it?

Wait, you counted over 200 of them? That's some serious dedication to watching nonsense. But yeah, I always crack up when they cut into a "cake" made of paper towels and it squirts ketchup everywhere.

I got maybe 15 minutes into one of those compilations once and my brain actually started hurting. The fact that someone watched 200 of these things means they sat through like 10 straight hours of paper mache hammers and edible glitter. At what point does that stop being entertainment and start being some kind of endurance test? I mean sure, the ketchup squirt gag gets me every now and then too, but I can't pretend it's some deep commentary on modern media. It's just dumb fun, and trying to count them all feels like you're overthinking a meme. Next thing you know they'll be doing a thesis on why fake slime videos are the new dadaism.
