Paid $15 for a TikTok productivity app and it ruined my focus

Downloaded this app promising to block short videos during work hours. Three days in and it kept glitching, showing me the exact content I was trying to avoid. Anyone else get burned by one of these "focus" trend apps that just make things worse?

Oh totally, same thing happened to me with one of those "screen time" apps that was supposed to block Instagram during work. I paid like 12 bucks for it and it kept showing me trending reels right in the widget area, like it was mocking me. The whole point was to stop seeing that stuff and it just made it worse with the glitches. I ended up deleting it after two days and just using the built-in screen time on my phone, which actually works fine for free. These paid apps are just scams half the time, they don't even test them before charging people.

Ain't it funny how the thing meant to help you stop scrolling just ends up feeding you more content? Feels like these developers are gaming us for engagement instead of actually fixing anything.

Had you tried manually turning off notifications for the app in your phone settings? I ran into the same issue with a similar app last month and it turned out the app was overriding my settings a glitch kept pushing video suggestions through a widget. What fixed it for me was deleting the widget completely and switching to airplane mode for an hour while I worked. These focus apps are usually just repackaged content, so maybe try a plain timer app instead or use the built-in screen time settings on your phone.
